Reminiscent of the days when pigments from the earth were used as a medium, and walls were made of plasters with a high lime content, lime wash is a lime paint that creates a chalky appearance when dry. Purposeful thinning creates a runny, drippy consistency that accentuates the effect. Tinted any color, lime wash changes over time and gives an aged look. The preferred application method does not require or suggest sealing in order to preserve such look.
One of our most impressive finishes, Old World Fresco develops optical texture and dimension that is breathtaking. Whether a custom tint, a metallic or an iridescent formulation, its effects appear to some as stonelike and marble-like. The interplay of light and dark, and fore and background color create a depth not possible with glaze compounds. Rendered dark over light, light over light, or metal over metal, its effects are sure to impress and delight. In this sample, gold fresco is applied over a charred gold background, and to many the result appears as mountains in a sunrise mist.
A textured layer of Lusterstone creates a chunky background used to support subsequent Lusterstone layers. The rustic effect is controlled by the choice of colors and degree of texture skimmed over the first layer, but do not covering up everything. An organic look is achieved by alternating thicker and thinner areas. Lusterstone's natural shimmer adds interest all over.

A Sandstone underlayer nicely sets up texture among which the glassy Venetian Gem fills in. Repeated layers of complementary plaster colors organically arranged provide interest and dimension. The primary benefit of the texture underlayer is to provide peaks which force darkening of the Venetian Gem when burnished.
An exciting and novel look, embedding takes advantage of a chemical process in which reactive solvents disrupt the surface tension of the glaze, causing it to separate or ciss, resulting in simultaneous pooling of color and opening glaze to reveal basecoat. Overglazing and reapplying embedding materials furthers the effect and creates a bird's eye effect. This sample incorporates brown and gold glazes to produce a particularly earthy effect. An interesting look in accent areas, on furniture or in a powder room.
Broad control over the crackle effect can be achieved governing fissure size, island size, and shape and direction of the crack pattern. In this sample, gold crackle is rendered over a jet black base with very large scale cracking. The finish was rendered on a single vaulted dining room wall and the effect dramatic.
